NSSF Declares 22.53% Interest Rate on Members’ Savings

Uganda’s National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has declared a 22.53% interest rate on members’ savings for the 2025/26 financial year, delivering a major boost to retirement balances.

Finance Minister Henry Musasizi announced the rate at NSSF’s Annual Members Meeting, where the Fund presented its financial performance for the year.

The declaration will see about Shs5.44 trillion credited to members’ accounts. It represents a significant jump from the 13.5% interest rate declared for 2024/25.

NSSF’s assets under management grew from about Shs26 trillion to Shs32.8 trillion by June 2026, supported by investment growth and increased member contributions.

The Fund said the strong financial performance enabled it to deliver the higher return while continuing to grow members’ savings.

The 22.53% rate applies to the 2025/26 financial year. Future interest rates will depend on NSSF’s investment and financial performance in subsequent years.
